'King of trolls': Daniil Medvedev takes down US Open crowd in hilarious move
Russian Daniil Medvedev has continued to lap up his new “heel” role at the US Open after stirring the crowd in a hilarious troll job at the end of his Round of 16 match.
The in-form Medvedev was relentlessly booed and widely condemned by fans over an obscene gesture in his fiery US Open win over Feliciano Lopez.
The 23-year-old Russian became public enemy No.1 during his third round clash when the fifth seed erupted after a crucial call went against him in the opening set.
At 5-5, the Russian was clearly incensed as he snatched at the towel the ball boy was holding out, before throwing it on the ground.
He then earned the wrath of the entire crowd after walking back to his end of the court, gesturing with his rude finger up to his face.
But the frustration from the crowd carried over during his match against German Dominik Koepfer.

He also trolled the New Yorkers in his post-match interview.
“I need to say it again, today I was losing 6-2, 2-0 and I was painful in my shoulder,” he said.
“I took as many painkillers as I could and you guys being against me, you gave me so much energy to win. Thank you.”
Medvedev will go on to face either Novak Djokovic or Stan Wawrinka in the Quarter-Final.
