UFC Vegas 2 full results: Calvillo outpoints Eye; Vettori submits Roberson
Jessica Eye not only failed to make weight for her flyweight matchup vs. Cynthia Calvillo, she failed to show up.
Calvillo outworked Eye over five rounds to earn the unanimous decision victory in the main event of Saturday’s show at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. In her flyweight debut, Calvillo impressed with a great performance against the former title contender. Calvillo made a good case for a title shot, but may need a few more fights at 125 to get close to champion Valentina Shevchenko’s level.
“I feel great, especially putting on a performance like that with a short amount of training,” Calvillo said after the fight. “I understand that the world is going through crazy times, it just feels amazing to be able to do this during this time.”
Calvillo improves to 9-1 and should jump up the flyweight rankings after taking down Eye, the soon-to-be former No. 1 contender in the division. Eye falls to 15-8 and will need to figure out her weight cutting issues before her next fight.
