Conor McGregor continues to build on his fortune after selling his whiskey business for a whopping amount.

McGregor launched his Proper No. Twelve whiskey business around the same time he was fighting Floyd Mayweather back in 2018.

Last month, it was reported McGregor had sold the majority stake of his business to Proximo Spirits.

But the amount was undisclosed.

However, it has been reported the UFC fighter and his partners sold their majority stake in Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey for a deal worth up to $US600 million ($AUD775 million)

Proximo Spirits, which already held 49 per cent, added Proper No. Twelve whiskey to Jose Cuervo and Bushmills to its portfolio.

McGregor and his partners Audie Attar and Ken Austin will retain a stake.

The $600 million figure includes the $250 million Proximo already paid in the partnership, according to Ken Austin.

McGregor also appears to be hanging around after claiming, "Proper Twelve is my baby for life," on his website The Mac Life.

The popularity of the whiskey took off and was even displayed on the canvas during the boxing rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

The whiskey company's sales skyrocketed as McGregor became the face of the company through his next three fights in the UFC.

Last year, Forbes estimated McGregor earned upwards of $US48 million.

This put him No.53 on Forbes' rankings for athletes' earnings.

Forbes estimated McGregor's net worth was around $148 million, excluding his whiskey business.

McGregor has always kept the earnings of Proper No. Twelve close to his chest.
