22 matches blown: Shocking stat Roger Federer won't want to see

Roger Federer might have 20 Grand Slams to his name, but his latest loss has raised some stats he wouldn’t want to see.

Federer’s heartbreaking loss to Djokovic in Wimbledon’s longest ever final was hard to bare for fans, but it was made more devastating after the Swiss maestro let two consecutive match points slip.

Stats show Federer has lost more matches after having a match point, compared to his greatest rivals Djokovic and Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

Federer has lost 22 matches after having a match point since his first loss of this kind in 2000 when he lost to Tim Henman at the Vienna Open.

In that match he had two match points he was unable to convert.

Nadal has gone on to lose eight matches after having a match point.

Nadal’s latest opponent he wasn’t able to defeat after having a match point was Australian Nick Kyrgios at Acapulco.

However, Serbian Djokovic leads the way having only gone on to lose three matches after having a match point.

Djokovic edging closer

Novak Djokovic never has been this close to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Grand Slam trophy count.

Given the way Djokovic edged Federer in a thrilling Wimbledon final for his fourth championship at the past five major tournaments, there is little reason to think the 32-year-old Serb doesn't have a realistic shot at catching his two great rivals at the top of tennis.
