Novak Djokovic’s mother has made startling claims that Roger Federer was ‘arrogant’ in the Wimbledon final and God helped her son win.

Federer famously blew two championship points in the decider at the All England Club in 2019 as Djokovic won a thriller after a fifth set tiebreaker at 12-12.

Discussing the epic final with Serbian publication Sport Blic, Dijana Djokovic claimed God ‘saved’ her son from losing.

"I saw a lot of matches, but Wimbledon was the most difficult last year,” she said.

“When Federer had two match points, I grabbed my cross from the Don River. I am a believer, I wear the amulet all the time, it has often saved me in difficult moments.

“I said to myself: 'Nole, you can do it, you've done it twice, you can do it again.' And he did it.

“He was saved by God. Novak also believes in God, he feels chosen. He carries a cross that brings him peace and happiness.”

Mrs Djokovic said she was annoyed by the pro-Federer crowd and the Swiss Maestro’s ‘arrogance’.

“In a stadium where everyone was cheering on Roger Federer, we were just a handful of fans for Novak,” she said.

“It's not nice that I'm annoyed by Federer or others at such moments.

“But it annoyed me because Federer is a bit arrogant.”

Djokovic slammed over ‘dangerous’ claims

Djokovic has been at the centre of controversy recently and fuelled the furore with some ‘disturbing’ claims last week.

In an Instagram Live chat with Chervin Jafarieh for a series called The Self Mastery Project, the two discussed how ‘toxic’ food and water can be made healthy through the power of positive thoughts.

“This is something that is not linked to any form of official way of presenting nutrition and how you should eat and drink,” Djokovic said.

“I know some people that, through energetical (sic) transformation, through the power of prayer, through the power of gratitude, they managed to turn the most toxic food, or maybe most polluted water into the most healing water, because water reacts.

“Scientists have proven that in experiment, that molecules in the water react to our emotions to what has been said.

“I truly believe that we should continuously every single day remind ourselves when we sit, that we sit without cameras, without phones, without watching things and stuff.

“Or even worse, having nervous [and] conflicting discussions at the table with your close ones during your meal.”

Leading tennis commentators Ben Rothenberg, Jon Wertheim and Mary Carillo slammed Djokovic, with the latter describing his claims as ‘dangerous’.

“We know that he believes in meditation, in prayer, in holistic healing,” she said during a discussion on Tennis Channel.

“I’m very disturbed that Djokovic and that other guy are saying you can change toxic water to drinking water.

“This is dangerous stuff and when I looked at it … it already had half a million hits. I really hope he backs down from that.”
