Barty was asked after the match what she said to the young 2020 French Open champion at the net.

The World No.1 said she wanted to share some words of encouragement for the Polish superstar.

"I said 'Mate, that was fun. It will be the first of many,'" she told reporters.

"Really enjoyed myself out there tonight. I enjoyed the challenge. Iga's game is exceptional. It's really, really impressive. I love testing myself & trying to figure out the puzzle and challenges she created for me."

Swiatek had spoken prior to their match about how Barty is setting a great example for tennis fans watching on how to deal with the pressure.

"Basically, I think it's a good example of dealing with expectations, just having some kind of distance to the game," she said.

"I'm also having a hard time finding it.

"I don't know the details,. I know it from the perspective of someone who was just reading media.

"Yeah, it shows that when you're going to catch some perspective, just approach tennis differently, it's going to be easier. She's doing that."
