'Piece of trash': Chinese trolls flood Shayna Jack video with vile comments
A video of Shayna Jack instructing a young swimmer on the basics of her sport has become the latest target for Chinese trolls.
The embattled Aussie star has been copping vile abuse on her Instagram account over the last few days, after it emerged she’d failed a doping test prior to the world championships.
However the trolls have now taken to YouTube, flooding a training video featuring Jack with horrible comments.
The 35-second clip for PlayBook Australia shows Jack giving the young swimmer some training tips.
But Chinese trolls still filthy with Mack Horton’s treatment of Sun Yang have turned it into a forum for their hate.
“Shayna Jack is a dirty drug user! Horton, where are you?” the top comment reads.
Another says: “Sure, teach children that they can use it too, way to go cheater, u are a piece of trash and u should be banned from any sports.”
While another takes aim at all Aussies: “Train with me! I (and all Australians) love taking drugs! Without taking drugs, we cannot win! Welcome to Australia, a proudly drug taking country!”
Some of the comments were also of a vile and disgusting nature.
Coach says Shayna Jack’s career not over
Swimming Australia head coach Jacco Verhaeren believes Jack can bounce back and save her career.
"Yes definitely (she can come back from this)," said Verhaeren, on arrival in Brisbane from the world swimming championships in South Korea.
"There are cases where the athlete's name is cleared, and it was all a mistake or contamination or whatever it was. And sure they come back from that."
Jack tested positive for the non-steroidal anabolic agent Ligandrol and must now state her case to ASADA.
Jack's coach Dean Boxall says he doesn't know how it happened but is standing by the 20-year-old as she tries to salvage her career.
"I stand by her," said Boxall, adding he didn't think the positive test overshadowed Australia's performance in Gwangju or affected the morale of her teammates.
"She's my swimmer and I believe in Shayna."
Boxall said he believed that the decision to withhold the information of Jack's positive test from the Australian swim team was the right one.
