'Breathtaking': Fans lose it over 'world class' Liverpool moment

Mohamed Salah has left football fans in a frenzy after an extraordinary performance for Liverpool capped off with a 'goal of the season' contender.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed Salah for the dazzling goals which ended his barren run and helped guide the Reds to a 3-1 victory over in-form West Ham.

Salah had gone six Premier League matches without a goal, equalling his longest goal drought for the Reds.

But there was to be no seventh successive blank as Salah returned to form with two exquisite second-half finishes in a win at the London Stadium which suggested the champions are rediscovering their mojo.

Salah made the breakthrough in the 57th minute after substitute Curtis Jones found him lurking on the right of the area.

The Egyptian forward danced his way inside the box before expertly curling a stunning left-footed shot past Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski into the back of the net.

While Salah's first was amazing, his second goal 11 minutes later was out of this world.

Defending a West Ham corner, the Reds launched a devastating counter attack that started with an exquisite 60-yard pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold to Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss star didn't even take a touch as he sprayed the bouncing ball back into the path of Salah, whose first touch was labelled "world class" from viewers.

The 28-year-old brought the ball down with his right foot and dinked it over Fabianski with his left - almost in the same motion - to leave viewers gobsmacked.

Commentators called it one of the "best goals in years" and the extraordinary moment lit up social media with similar sentiments from viewers.

Klopp praises star forward

"He scored against Tottenham (in midweek) but it was disallowed, but it was a good sign for him that a couple of things are clicking," Klopp said after the game.

"Tonight, he played a super game, his passing was good and the controlling of the game was good.

"The first goal is a super smart goal. I think Fabianski couldn't see the ball, it was crowded and he just lifted it.

"The second goal, what a counter attack! Two passes until Mo got the ball, first touch world class and a nice finish. Top game and top goals."

Georginio Wijnaldum added a third for the champions before Craig Dawson's late consolation.

A win would have taken West Ham above Liverpool into fourth, but they found out they have a long way to go before they can seriously think about breaking into the top four.

Boss David Moyes said: "I thought we competed as well as we could, but we didn't play as well as we could. We tried to compete but they were just too strong for us today.

"Liverpool are not one of the teams we are challenging. Their consistency will be much greater. They played better than us so we've got no complaints."
