Aussie gold medallist Madi Wilson hospitalised with Covid-19
Aussie swimmer Madi Wilson has revealed she's been hospitalised with Covid-19 despite being double vaccinated.
The 27-year-old is currently in Naples, Italy for the International Swimming League (ISL) and was admitted to hospital on Sunday.

The Olympic gold medallist has been forced to withdraw from the ISL and will spend the next few days in hospital.
“I am extremely disappointed and upset not to be racing alongside my teammates in match 8 here in the ISL,” Wilson wrote on Instagram.
“I recently tested positive for Covid and yesterday was moved into hospital for further care and observation.”
Wilson said she had followed all relevant Covid-19 protocols put in place for the ISL and believes her busy schedule may have contributed to the positive diagnosis.
“Even though I am double vaccinated and took the right precaution set in place through the ISL, I have managed to fall to this virus," she wrote.
"It’s been a crazy few months and I believe being run down physically and mentally may have made me more susceptible."
Covid diagnosis a 'wake up call' for Madi Wilson
The two-time Olympic gold medallist said the diagnosis was a huge wake up call.
“I feel extremely unlucky but I do believe this is a huge wake up call, Covid is a serious thing and when it comes it hits very hard," she said.
“I’d be stupid not to say I wasn’t scared. I’m so lucky for all my family, friends and support people.
"I can’t believe how much love I have been shown and I’m forever in debt to these people.
“Special thanks to my incredible LA family, you haven’t and won’t ever see a team with a bigger heart then theirs, away from the pool the most incredible compassionate group of people and in the pool we are fighting with every bit of strength.
"I can promise we will be ready to fire come semi-finals!
“I’m taking some time to rest and I’m sure I’ll be ready to bounce back in no time.”
Aussie teammates Ariarne Titmus, Brianna Throssell, Kyle Chalmers, Kiah Melverton and Zac Incerti all sent Wilson messages of support after her Covid-19 revelation.
Wilson was part of Australia's 4x100m freestyle relay team that won gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
It was the second Olympic gold medal of Wilson’s career after helping Australia win the same event at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Wilson also won bronze in the 4x200m relay in Tokyo.
