'Wow, you're alive': Horrific details emerge after NFL player's arrest
The Seattle Seahawks have released a statement to confirm they've released offensive lineman Chad Wheeler, following his arrest on domestic violence charges over the weekend.
Court documents revealed shocking details of the alleged incident that left his girlfriend covered in blood, with her arm hanging limply by her side.

The woman told officers the alleged assault began after Wheeler told the woman to bow to him.

He reportedly attacked the woman after she refused. The woman also told police Wheeler is bipolar and has not been taking his medication.
Wheeler reportedly threw his girlfriend on a bed and choked her until she was unconscious.
When she regained consciousness, the woman saw Wheeler by the bed and he said, "Wow, you're alive?"
She then ran into the bathroom, where she called her family and 911, according to the case file.
Wheeler picked the lock to the bathroom and entered, then began apologizing. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Wheeler.
He was reportedly uncooperative when officers tried to arrest him at first.
The Seahawks released a statement Tuesday saying they were “gathering information.” A day later, Wheeler was released by the team.
The Seattle side also encouraged Wheeler to “get the help he needs.”
"The Seahawks are saddened by the details emerging against Chad Wheeler and strongly condemn this act of domestic violence. Our thoughts and support are with the victim. Chad is a free agent and no longer with the team," the Seahawks said in a statement.
Player ‘deeply sorry’ and ‘truly ashamed’
Wheeler sent out a series of Tweets to apologise for the incident, insisting he was extremely sorry and "truly ashamed" for the "turmoil" he has caused.
“Events happened over the weekend that transpired from a manic episode. I am deeply sorry for the pain and suffering that I have caused to [the victim] and her family.
“I apologize profusely for the turmoil that I have caused to my family, teammates, fans and those closest to me. The most important thing right now is that [the victim] gets the care she needs and I get help. Both are happening.
“It is time for me to walk away from football and get the help I need to never again pose a threat to another. I cannot express my sorrow or remorse enough. I am truly ashamed.”
Prosecutors asked a judge to require Wheeler be placed on electronic home detention, and wear an ankle device equipped with GPS monitoring.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 9.
Wheeler joined the Seahawks in 2019 and appeared in five games this season. His contract with the team was set to expire with the start of the new league year in March.
