Fantasy basketball mailbag: What to do with Mo Brown and LaMarcus Aldridge?

The trade deadline has passed, former All-Stars are joining title contenders for free, and the fantasy playoffs are in sight.

So, you have questions, and I have what I guess you could call answers.

Time for the fantasy basketball mailbag.

@aspect_sc - Is Moses Brown a good pickup?

No. He is the best pickup. Most leagues grabbed Brown weeks ago, but he is still available in over 30% of Yahoo leagues and that numbers should be closer to 0%.

Al Horford won’t play for the Thunder again this season, and Brown is looking like the starting centre.

It is a little more complicated, as they did trade for Tony Bradley and Isaiah Roby played a lot at PF with Darius Bazley out, but you can’t let a fantasy stud like Brown wither on the wire.

Add him, enjoy it, and figure out the rest later.

@Ricky_nurse - What are your thoughts on Cole Anthony for weeks 16-18?

It’s been frustrating waiting for Anthony to return.

Before his rib injury, which the Magic said wasn’t serious at first, Anthony was figuring things out as the Magic’s starting point guard.

His return likely comes in Week 15, and I think he will be starting come fantasy playoffs.

So, suppose you are in a strong position in the standings now. In that case, I like Anthony as a potential top 100 guy for the fantasy playoffs, especially given the impoverished nature of the current Magic roster.

@jazielexposito - Now that LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t going to Miami, who is a pickup for their power forward position?

Let’s get this out of the way, firstly.

Aldridge wasn’t going to be a pickup in Miami, and he certainly isn’t a pickup in Brooklyn.

But, for Miami, it is a little more interesting. I imagine they start Trevor Ariza at power forward, and he is someone who could be an add but likely has more value for category leagues versus points leagues.

They could also go with recently acquired Nemanja Bjelica or second-year man KZ Okpala, but I would put my money on Ariza being the man who plays 30 minutes a night.

I don’t mind adding him. I think he has more value than what Aldridge would’ve in the same position, but he isn’t that high of a volume player, which can be his detriment in fantasy points leagues.

@bet_corona96 - Will Tyrese Haliburton’s production decrease with Sacramento’s new acquisitions?

If you aren’t aware, the Kings brought in Delon Wright, Terance Davis, Moe Harkless, and Chris Silva at the trade deadline.

I will guess you are worried about Wright and not the others, but no, I don’t think Haliburton, who is the superior player at the moment and superior prospect, is going to lose any production.

We saw on Sunday that Haliburton’s minutes and touches are just fine, and it’s Wright who is the guy who will lose out.

Maybe, if you don’t have Haliburton in a league, you could try to pry him from a poor owner’s hands, but I am not worried in the slightest.

He is their third-best player already, and he isn’t losing out to Wright et al.
