NBA fans are in uproar after it was announced fan favourite Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso will miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured wrist after an unsportsmanlike foul.

Milwaukee Bucks guard Grayson Allen was ejected from Saturday win over the Bulls on a flagrant foul 2, after he sent Caruso crashing into the hardwood on a fast break.

Caruso was going up for a dunk when Allen attempted to block his shot from behind, fouling him hard with one arm before his other arm appeared to pull Caruso horizontally into the air.

The Bulls star, who had only recently returned from a seperate injury, will have surgery next week and be re-evaluated in 6-8 weeks, the Bulls say.

The Bulls were furious about Allen's foul after the game, with head coach Billy Donovan taking the rare step to directly criticise the actions of another after the game.

“It was really bad. It was really, really bad … For Alex to be in the air like that for him to take him down like that, he could have ended his career,” Donovan said.

“And (Allen) has a history of this. That to me was really dangerous. I really hope the league takes a hard look at something like that, because they could have really, really seriously hurt him.”

Allen is notorious among NBA fans for dirty plays, dating back to his college career at Duke.

He was once suspended by his coach after tripping an opponent in game, the first of several such instances before he was drafted into the NBA.

Allen's reputation has proven hard to shake, with outraged fans calling on the league to offer a serious punishment for the reckless play.

Chicago Bulls not happy about Grayson Allen flagrant foul

Though the Bulls held a slight lead headed into the fourth quarter, the Bucks edged Chicago out in the fourth quarter to claim the four-point win.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds for Milwaukee, and Khris Middleton added 16 points and 11 rebounds.

DeMar DeRozan dropped 35 points for the Bulls while shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 17-of-18 from the line, and Nikola Vucevic added 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Those two, along with 11 points from Matt Thomas off the bench, were the only Chicago players to score in double figures.

The Bulls, who are still without Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball, have now lost six of their last eight.

Speaking after the game, but before the fractured wrist was diagnosed, Caruso said he was simply happy to still be in one piece.

“Dude just grabbed me out of the air. Kind of bulls***,” Caruso said.

“I don’t know what else you can do about it. Just glad I didn’t have any major, scary injuries right away.”
