Moto GP star Miguel Oliveira has finally opened up about his long-term relationship with his step-sister and his plans to marry her in the near future.

Oliveira, last week, won his first MotoGP race in Styria and was “screaming” in “pure joy to have done it finally”.

The 25-year-old shot to superstardom last year in his rookie season and his popularity grew as he edged closer to a maiden MotoGP win.

Oliveira was confident he was going to win in 2020 and said he saw it “coming already quite a few races ago,” but the celebrations could continue soon after opening up about future plans to marry his step-sister and long-time girlfriend Andreia Pimenta.

The 25-year-old MotoGP star met his step sister in his teens when his father married her mother.

“Before love there was a great friendship. We grew up together,” he recently told Manuel Luís Goucha on Portuguese TV.

“At some point we realised that it was more than a friendship, it is a very strong love.”

The wedding was going to be this year, but after changes to the MotoGP schedule, it was postponed.

“We were going to get married this year, but that weekend I had a race and we had to postpone it to next year,” he said.

Oliveira proposes to Pimenta

The pair announced they were going to get married on Instagram in July last year.

Pimenta posted: “Today was marked forever in my life. The answer was YES.”

Oliveira’s father has given them his blessing.

“I’m happy that my son is getting married to the woman of his life,” Paulo Oliveira told Spanish newspaper Marca.

He told Manuel Luís Goucha: "Before love there was a great friendship. We grew up together.

“At some point we realised that it was more than a friendship, it is a very strong love.

Oliveira wins MotoGP race

Oliveira’s first MotoGP win was a hug step for the young Portuguese rider.

Last year, the rider’s best result in his rookie year was 8th position.

But the 25-year-old rider was steadily getting closer this year with an 8th postiion finish at the Spanish GP and 6th at the Czech GP.

Overall, Oliveira sits 9th in the MotoGp standings.
