Gladys Berejiklian's Melbourne Cup tweet backfires brutally
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been trolled on social media after picking her favourite to win the Melbourne Cup.
Berejiklian joined in the national excitement and wrote: “I don’t know much about the field in this year’s Melbourne Cup but for obvious reasons I will be backing Dashing Willoughby!”

The NSW premier was alluding to her being the member of Sydney suburb Willoughby.
But the tweet quickly backfired with plenty of users alluding to her recent controversy as premier.

Berejiklian has been under pressure to resign after it was revealed she had a close personal relationship with Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.
The NSW premier has not been accused of any wrongdoing, but Maguire is being investigated for alleged corruption.
“Is there a horse called ‘A Matter Of Principle’, Obviously not your pick,” one user wrote.
“Would seem you don’t know much about a lot of things lately,” another user wrote.

Many simply called for her to resign.
While others backed ‘NuptotheCup’ and called for Berejiklian to ban horse racing in NSW.

Party to go on despite crowd-free Melbourne Cup
Attendance for the race that stops the nation has been dwindling recently, last year falling to its lowest point since 1995 as the temperature didn't creep above 19C.
The 2020 edition is set to be the hottest in six years, with the temperature forecast to hit 29C.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rod Dickson is predicting dry and mostly sunny conditions across Victoria for the annual public holiday.
Melburnians can have two adults plus dependents from one household visit their house, with Cup organisers selling home-delivered gourmet food and alcohol packs curated by the likes of Neil Perry.
