When will A.J. Brown return? Latest injury updates on Eagles WR

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has missed three games since playing in his team's Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. Could he return for the Eagles' Week 6 game with the Cleveland Browns?

Brown suffered a hamstring injury during the week of practice ahead of Philadelphia's Week 2 "Monday Night Football" clash with the Atlanta Falcons. He was eventually ruled out for that game and has yet to return to action.

The Eagles have played three games without Brown and are 1-2. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who threw for 278 yards in Week 1, has surpassed 200 passing yards once in the three games since his lead wide receiver's hamstring injury: a 311-yard day against the New Orleans Saints in a Week 3 loss.

A Week 5 bye may have been a fortunate break for the Eagles, who have also been missing wide receiver DeVonta Smith since he suffered a concussion in Week 3. They'll play the Browns in Week 6 after that extra week of potential recovery time for their top two receiving targets.

When was A.J. Brown's injury?

Brown first started feeling tightness in his hamstring during practice before the Eagles' Week 2 matchup with the Falcons.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported at the time that he felt the tightness during Friday's practice and didn't practice on Saturday. After a Sunday walkthrough, the star wideout and his team determined he wouldn't be ready to play in time for the "Monday Night Football" game.

Brown has since missed two more games as he was dealing with the same injury.

When will A.J. Brown return?

On Wednesday afternoon, The Athletic's Brooks Kubena reported that Brown participated in the Eagles' padded practice. A picture Kubena shared from practice showed Brown in full pads.

The Eagles listed Brown as a full participant at practice on Wednesday after the conclusion of the session. That puts him in a good position to play in Philadelphia's Week 6 game against the Browns.

Eagles WR depth chart

Here's how the Eagles' wide receiver room has looked with Brown injured and Smith in concussion protocol:

  • Jahan Dotson

  • Parris Campbell

  • Johnny Wilson

As of Wednesday, Dotson and Campbell are the only receivers without an injury designation on the Eagles' roster. Jacob Harris, Britain Covey, and Ainias Smith are all on injured reserve.
