Two men in their 30s who brought the AFL grand final to a stop by running onto the field as a social media stunt have been told "they haven't grown up".

Michael Corey Broekhuyse, 31, and Martin Sokolinski, 32, who describe themselves as a comedy duo, ran onto the Gabba about 7pm on October 24.

While defence lawyer Andrew McGinnes said the actions of the social media influencers "were not all high jinks", a Brisbane magistrate told the court on Monday they shouldn't return to court if they want to travel overseas.

Broekhuyse and Sokolinski have more than a million followers on their Instagram page and nearly 800,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The game between the Richmond Tigers and the Geelong Cats was stopped temporarily when the pair jumped the fence and ran onto the eastern side of the field before kicking balls they took with them.

Their defence lawyer Andrew McGinness told the court the stunt was planned, but not intended to interfere with players, the game or the score.

He said the action was at the other end of the field when the pair ran on.

However, by the time they got on the field the action had moved and the game was held up while Broekhuyse and Sokolinski were removed from the field

"They both kicked a goal and were a very short time later restrained by security and police," Mr McGinness said.

Grand final pitch invaders fined, spared conviction

When asked why Broekhuyse and Sokolinski ran onto the field, Mr McGinness said: "It was affiliated with their social media site."

He said the pair had travelled to the centre of social media business in Los Angeles and wished to do so again once travel restrictions ease.

Earlier this year the pair helped raise more than $200,000 for the Australian bushfire appeal, he added.

"So it would seem it's not all high jinks," Mr McGinness told the court.

He said previous charges against Sokolinski for public nuisance offences were more than a decade old.

"Yeah, but they haven't grown up," magistrate Anne Thacker replied.

She said their actions were a "nuisance thing".

"Imagine if everyone had the same idea as you ... You can't do this behaviour," she told them.

"Who knows what would happen if one of those players got angry with you."

Ms Thacker fined Broekhuyse and Sokolinski $750 each, taking into account they had pleaded guilty during their first court appearance.

She recorded no conviction.

"But in each of your cases I have to say I wouldn't be coming back if you want to travel," she told the pair.
