Ezra Mam's revelation about Adam Reynolds amid ugly dramas engulfing Brisbane Broncos

The halves have not played together since round nine in the NRL.

Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam has admitted he has missed halves partner Adam Reynolds as the halfback prepares for an NRL return to help the struggling side. Reynolds has not played for the Broncos since round nine after he walked off the field with a bicep injury.

The halfback was a huge reason why the Broncos made the 2023 grand final having used his experience to guide a young team around the park. And the Broncos have struggled without their chief playmaker in 2024 as they sit outside the top eight on 18 points.

Brisbane is facing a dire situation and will need to win six of their last seven games to make NRL finals. However, they could use the help of Reynolds who is scheduled to return in round 22 or 23. Reynolds is already back at training and is hoping the Broncos can put together a number of wins to make sure they are still in contention for finals footy come his return.

And halves partner Mam has already expressed his delight at Reynolds' return to the training ground ahead of their round 20 fixture. "We are not too sure when Reyno's full return is. We are happy to have him back training with us," Mam said.

"He is definitely helping and guiding our halves and spine. Having him training is big for our team. When he comes back, we don't know, but it will be a big impact for us.

"He has been very sad to miss out and wants to come back as fast as he can. I have missed him on the field, but having said that it has been a good opportunity for myself to step up and take control of the team. It has been a bit of growth for myself and handling the game."

Many NRL fans predicted the Broncos could win the premiership in 2024 with their young squad gaining the experience of heading to a grand final. However, injuries to stars such as Reynolds and Reece Walsh - including Origin absentees - has hampered the season.

And Mam has admitted the team is aware their errors have let them down. "All of us individually in our team have got to find another level in our game. With myself I have to focus on my job," he said.

"When I make an error it really hurts me. That is how much I love it. I never mean to make an error but that is the attitude we have all got to have, and move on from our mistakes."

Coach Kevin Walters' decision to rest his Origin stars after Game 2 prompted backlash with the Broncos now facing an extremely difficult task to climb the ladder and make the top eight. The Broncos will now need to win six of their last seven games.

Walters hasn't confirmed whether Walsh, Patrick Carrigan, Payne Haas and Selwyn Cobbo will backup after Wednesday's Origin clash. The Origin stars were rested against the Warriors following Game 2 and it remains to be seen if the four players will take to the field on Saturday.

The Broncos will also be looking to make history as no team has ever recovered from six straight losses to win the NRL premiership. However, Mam is confident the young side can defy the odds.

"Definitely. We like to break records," he said. "They say that no team has won the grand final after six losses in a row, and we would like to break that one this year."
