David Warner under fire after controversial dismissal at Cricket World Cup
The veteran opener showed an unfamiliar side after his brutal dismissal.
David Warner has come under fire for his rather extreme reaction to being given out on a DRS decision against Sri Lanka to continue his frustrating cricket World Cup. Australia were looking to Warner to get Australia off to a strong start after Sri Lanka collapsed for 205 after Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa ripped through the batting line-up.
Warner hadn't past 50 yet against India and South Africa and was looking to kick-start his campaign, but was left absolutely fuming when he Dilshan Madushanka dismissed for 11 runs. Warner was given out LBW with the ball looking like it was going down leg side.

Warner reviewed the decision, but was left absolutely fuming when replays showed the ball just clipping leg stump. Because the on-field umpire Joel Wilson gave the original decision out, Warner had to walk.
And as he walked Warner turned back and appeared to deliver an angry spray towards someone. Warner could find himself in trouble for the outburst, however it did not appear to be directed towards anyone.
Commentator Ian Smith didn't think Warner's reaction was justified with technology proving the ball was hitting the stumps. “He gets the message David Warner. He’s none so happy about it,” Smith said as Warner walked off. “But he cannot argue with technology. He leaves the ground in a huff it is fair to say.”
However, Warner's former teammate Aaron Finch defended Warner's frustration after a close umpire call. “You can absolutely see why David Warner wasn’t happy. Live it just didn’t look like it was going to be smashing into the middle, or middle and leg. And the umpire’s call," Finch said.
“It’s the fine line. Umpire gives it not out, then David Warner is still batting. It’s just clipping leg stump.” Many fans defended Warner and claimed the 'umpire's decision' rule creates frustration for players.
Other fans were left fuming with Warner and claimed his reaction to the dismissal should warrant the International Cricket Council looking into the reaction. According to their rules, “excessive, obvious disappointment with an umpire’s decision,” can see a player fined.

David Warner helps ground staff during Australia's win
While Warner did cop some criticism for a poor reaction to his dismissal, he also did win over the hearts of locals after helping the ground staff cover the pitch. In the 35th over of the first innings, rain delayed the game for a few moments.
Warner was all smiles and opted to help the ground staff cover the pitch, which was a nice scene from the veteran player.

Australia needed to bounce back against Sri Lanka and they did thanks to a brilliant bowling effort. And it was captain Pat Cummins and spinner Adam Zampa that stole the show. Sri Lanka collapsed with a 9-52 with Zampa (4-47) and Cummins (2-32) doing the bulk of the damage.
Josh Inglis proved his selection with the bat, after Alex Carey was dropped from the team, having scored his maiden World Cup half-century.
