Michael Slater charged over alleged domestic violence incident
Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Slater has been charged with stalking and harassment offences over a domestic violence incident.
The 51-year-old was arrested on Wednesday at a home in Manly on Sydney's northern beaches.

He was taken to Manly Police Station, interviewed and later charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend and with stalking.
Slater was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on November 11.
In a statement, police said officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command began an investigation on Tuesday after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on October 12.
“Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday 12 October 2021,’’ the NSW Police statement read.
“Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly about 9.20am and spoke with a 51-year-old man.
"He has since been arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.”
Slater was an opening batter and played 74 Tests for Australia, amassing 5312 runs with an average of 42.83.
Michael Slater dumped from Channel 7 commentary team
Slater became one of the hosts of the Channel Nine commentary team after his cricket career ended.
Earlier this month, Slater didn't have his contract renewed with Channel 7, who now have the broadcast rights.
Channel 7 opted not to renew Slater's contract, with speculation emerging the former Test star's Twitter tirade against the prime minister could have hurt him.
Slater has long been a fixture of commentary teams on 7 and Nine, with his absence from free-to-air cricket commentary to be his first in over a decade.
The 51-year-old reportedly got some Australian cricketers offside back in May, when he publicly attacked Scott Morrison over the government's decision to ban Australian citizens from returning home from India, where the Delta variant of Covid-19 had accelerated out of control.
“If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It’s a disgrace!!” Slater tweeted in May.
“Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out quarantine system.
“I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect.
“And for those who think this is a money exercise. Well forget it. This is what I do for a living and I have not made a penny having left early.”
Mr Morrison later labelled Slater's comments “absurd”.
