A former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team has come under fire after a disgusting moment in a Twenty20 (T20) match in Dhaka.

Viewers have roundly condemned wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim after an "unacceptable" clash with one of his own teammates in the domestic T20 competition.

The flashpoint came late in a knockout match between Mushfiqur's Beximco Dhaka and Fortune Barishal.

Bangladesh's former captain made 43 off 30 balls to help Beximco Dhaka post a solid score of 8/150 in their innings.

However, Mushfiqur undid much of his good work with the bat in a shocking incident in the field.

Barishal were five wickets down and needed 45 runs off the final 19 balls when Afif Hossain skied a shot into the outfield.

Spinner Nasum Ahmed, who was fielding at fine leg, looked well positioned to take a simple catch in the outfield.

However, Mushfiqur had other ideas as he raced from the stumps towards his teammate, before snatching the catch with his gloves and narrowly avoiding a collision.

The furious 33-year-old then shaped up to either hit or throw the ball at his teammate, gesturing angrily in the direction of the 26-year-old spinner.

Fortunately Mushfiqur didn't follow through with his aggressive threat as Nasum reeled away in shock and embarrassment.

The ugly outburst from 70-Test veteran Mushfiqur left viewers incensed on social media.
