Fan outrage after Kiwi Test star evicted from MCG

New Zealand sporting fans have been left outraged after rugby star Jordie Barrett was spotted being ejected from the MCG, after skolling a beer at the Boxing Day Test.

Cameras for Fox Sports captured the moment the 17-Test veteran was asked to leave the venue, supposedly for ‘bad behaviour’.

Victoria Police later confirmed two New Zealanders had been asked to leave and banned from the stadium for 24 hours.

After the incident was also reported by the New Zealand Herald, the ‘#justiceforjordie’ hashtag began to appear on social media, with many fans clearly irritated by stadium security’s decision to remove the All Blacks star.

Discussion of the incident spread far and wide on social media, with Barrett earning plenty of support on the New Zealand’s Alternative Commentary Collective Facebook group.

One fan posted that Barrett had only downed the beer after a group of Kiwi fans recognised him and began chanting his name.

“I was sitting approximately 10 seats from Jordie when he was spotted in the crowd by a fellow Kiwi, he had half a beer and the boys said/chanted ‘skull’,” the fan wrote.

“Jordie was seated down and finished his half vessel of mid-strength over-priced beer and a security guard walked over and requested he leave.”

Peter Siddle calls time on international cricket career

Peter Siddle's 67-Test cricket career is over.

The veteran Australian seamer will hold a press conference later on Sunday to discuss his decision to retire from international cricket immediately.

One of the national side's hardest toilers over the past decade, 35-year-old Siddle made his Test debut in 2008 and his 221 wickets are the 13th most by an Australian.

He remains the last Australian male to take a Test hat-trick, famously achieving the feat on his birthday during the 2010-11 Ashes at the Gabba.

The Victorian was part of Australia's 5-0 Ashes whitewash of England in 2013-14 and bowled with great accuracy.

He still played a role in this year's Ashes success in England, taking seven wickets in three Tests.

"The Ashes was the main goal, to try and get on that touring party and be part of that series," Siddle said on Fox Cricket.

"Once I ticked that off, I had been chatting with Painey (captain Tim Paine) and JL (coach Justin Langer) through that series and thought I could have done it (retired) there.

"But the chance of maybe getting one last crack if it came up in Australia to do it at home. But I can be content with 67 Tests."
