'Pretty ordinary': Fans slam Dayne Zorko after wiping out female trainer

Dayne Zorko has come under fire from fans after inadvertently injuring a female trainer.

The Brisbane Lions captain was in action against Port Adelaide in a pre-season clash on Sunday when the ugly incident occurred.

Zorko shoved Port Adelaide’s Kane Farrell over the boundary line even though his opponent was clearly going out of bounds already.

Farrell then clattered straight into a female Brisbane trainer who was tending to another player sitting on the sideline.

Farrell crashed into the trainer’s back at frighting speed, leaving both sprawled on the ground.

Luckily for all involved the trainer was able to walk it off, however fans weren’t too pleased with Zorko’s actions.

Charlie Dixon stars in Port victory

Callum Ah Chee might also find himself under scrutiny by the match review officer for a third-quarter tackle on Justin Westhoff.

The Lion drove Westhoff into the turf hard over the boundary line with the Power player's left arm pinned to the side of his body.

Meanwhile, Charlie Dixon made a great start to 2020, booting four goals as the Power claimed a 21-point win over Brisbane.

The 29-year-old, aiming for a big season after successfully returning from a broken leg and dislocated ankle late in the 2019 campaign, looked fit and in form as the visitors secured an encouraging 14.14 (98) to 12.5 (77) victory at Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane.

Power coach Ken Hinkley was delighted, saying Dixon was a key part of his plans for the 2020 campaign as Port aimed to end a two-season finals drought.

"He's missed 18 months with a really bad injury," Hinkley said.

"Give the man credit. That takes a lot to come back from and we've said all season he's had a great summer.

"The challenge for Charlie, it's like us as a team, he's started really well; he's prepared really well; he's got to do it again and again and again.

"Couldn't be more pleased that he's got some reward for everything he's done."

Brisbane will assess the fitness of Marcus Adams and Alex Witherden before their next trial on March 8 against Carlton in Melbourne. Both players failed to finish the match due to head knocks.

The Power wrap up their pre-season campaign on March 7 in Whyalla against the Western Bulldogs.
