Collingwood players caught in 'embarrassing' new video controversy

Collingwood players Jack Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor have found themselves at the centre of controversy after publishing a video on social media showing the pair rating women out of 10.

The latest controversy comes hot on the heels of Jordan de Goey's similarly controversial mid-season trip to Bali, in which he was seen on camera attempting to expose the breasts of a female companion in a nightclub.

A TikTok surfaced on Monday showing Ginnivan and Quaynor laughing and describing various women before giving them a number rating.

“And she’s a two, but she smells really nice,” Ginnivan says at one point, before Quaynor replies saying "Three. She’s a 10, but got some … teeth, like them teeth are going every which way, diagonal, everything.”

Veteran AFL reporter Caroline Wilson told Footy Classified on Monday night that Collingwood had instructed the pair to delete the video.

Another clip shows Quaynor describe another as “a nine-and-a-half, but is homeless", to which Ginnivan responds "Two-and-a-half."

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd told the panel the video made for cringeworthy viewing.

“It’s embarrassing to watch, isn’t it,” he said.

“You’re cringing just watching it.

“They’ll learn from that, those two. I’m not sure what the ramifications will be but it’s embarrassing.”

Collingwood have yet to make public comment about the controversy.

The pair also copped criticism from fans on social media.

The situation with Ginnivan and Quaynor, taken alongside the developing Jordan de Goey situation last weekend, has left Collingwood in an awkward position.

The club has yet to comment publicly on De Goey's situation outside of a brief statement acknowledging the video on Saturday morning.

Wilson said as the weekend had progressed, the Magpies had become more frustrated by the overall situation the longer it went on.

"I think there's been a shift at the club as more people have seen this video," Wilson said.

"I'm told by the club that the penny has dropped now for Jordan de Goey, he realises he's in real trouble."

"It's staggering to me that he would be that stupid to think he could do that in a video, make those gestures about women and think everything is alright."

The woman seen in the videos, Remy Jackson, posted on Instagram saying there was 'nothing to see here' regarding the footage, while De Goey took to Instagram with a statement of his own on Sunday.

He accused the media of manufacturing an 'uneducated, bias and ill-informed narrative', as well as 'persecution of athletes'.

Former St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt said De Goey had to understand how the video would look to others outside him immediate circle.

“He‘s gone on the front foot and as people sometimes say, the best form of defence is a good offence,” he said.

“He’s certainly gone on the attack, it’s probably the opposite of what I was expecting in terms of a statement.

"I probably would’ve acknowledged the optics of the situation.

"Then if you’re looking for sort of an out, you’d make a statement around freedom of players and the fact players are grown-ups and make their own choices.

“There are so many layers to this with within sort of the one incident; clearly there was the pulling of the clothing and the fact that he was in Bali and that was criticised prior to any of the other stuff. There are so many layers.”
