'Bit shy': Brooke Cotchin's telling response to AFL virus breach

Richmond star Trent Cotchin has revealed how his wife is handling the fallout after she was caught breaching the league’s biosecurity protocols.

A social media post from a visit to a day spa, contravening the agreement between players, clubs and the Queensland state government, resulted in the AFL dishing out the huge fine to the Tigers.

But Trent has said friends rallied around her after she apologised for the fine and beach.

“It’s amazing how so many people have actually contacted her saying we miss your posts, particularly of the kids, it’s actually the highlight of our day,’ he told The Herald Sun.

“Clearly she’s a little bit shy at the moment. It’s always a challenge in this industry, but you live and you learn and I think the way she handled it was very good.”

Brooke apologises for spa mistake

Brooke has been silent on social media ever since her public apology and defence of journalist Mitch Cleary.

She offered an apology in her post, and said she and Trent had agreed to pay the fine on Richmond’s behalf.

“I wish to apologise for the mistake I have made and I am deeply sorry for any angst that I have created for anyone.

“It was an honest mistake and one that I am incredibly remorseful for.

“I am the first to admit I am not perfect, and I do make mistakes, this being one that I need to own and learn from.

“I thank you all for your comments and private messages, good and bad. I have read every single one of them.

“We have not publicised that we are paying the fine, as we did not think it was necessary.

“I am hoping that this post helps explain things and puts a few minds at peace knowing that this was my mistake, which I accept total responsibility for.”
