Footy fans have been left in awe over an incredible photo of 17-year-old prodigy Shane Inkamala.

Inkamala was in action for Papunya against Yuendumu in the MacDonnell Regional Council Under 18 Boys Grand Final in Alice Springs on the weekend when he was snapped at the height of a crazy vertical leap.

Inkamala was celebrating a goal with a trademark leap into the air, sailing way above what seems humanly possible.

The photo immediately went viral on social media, sending fans into a frenzy.

“Shane Inkamala has AMAZING hops,” Jackson Clark wrote on Facebook.

“This is just a celebration, I'd love to see him flying for a mark.”

Leigh Davies wrote: “Someone has Photoshopped the jet pack out of the photo.”

Jason Fairell wrote: “WOW, good hops”, while Ryan Butler said: “There a trampoline on the ground?”

And Georgis Skoufezis added: “His vertical leap would be insane.”

The 17-year-old led Papunya to a 12.11.83 to 4.4.28 victory on Sunday, kicking three goals.

It capped off a perfect season for Papunya, who went undefeated at 3-0 in a shortened season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Inkamala and best mate Jesiah Minor also took part in the NAB AFL Under 18 All-Star game in Darwin on Friday night, starring for the All Stars team.

According to AFL Northern Territory, it was the boys’ first time in Darwin and only their second time on a plane.

“They asked one of our staff members on the way if Darwin was hot or cold,” a spokesperson told Yahoo Sport Australia.

Lions eager to avoid 2019 finals flop

Meanwhile, Brisbane coach Chris Fagan believes last year's AFL finals disappointment will drive the Lions on this time around.

The Lions’ impressive 2019 campaign came to a shuddering halt with a straight-sets finals exit after defeats to Richmond and Greater Western Sydney.

The Tigers - and their 11-year, 15-game winning run over the Lions - is again the first post-season hurdle in Brisbane's path with the teams set to do battle in a qualifying final at the Gabba on Friday.

Fagan is, however, confident the Lions head into this year's clash a harder, more streetwise team than they were last year.

“Our guys have grown up as a team and our guys understand if you want to beat the best you've got to be very even across the board,” Fagan said, adding his team’s reliance on their top stars such as Charlie Cameron and Lachie Neale had decreased in the past 12 months.

A win on Friday would put them into a preliminary final at the Gabba and just one step from a grand final at their home ground.

Fagan admits there’s plenty of expectation on his team but insists that can be used as a positive.

“We understand that the consequences of a positive result is an opportunity to go into a prelim final and be only a game away from a grand final and that's certainly what we're aiming to do,” he said.

“That won't be lost on the players.”
