High volume of jobs available
SEEK’s head of customer insights and strategy, Aimee Hutton, said the volume of jobs being advertised was helping drive positive salary growth, with ads up 0.8 per cent month on month.
“It is a really great time if you are looking to change jobs, with the diversity in roles that are out there and the diversity of skills that employers are looking for,” Hutton told Yahoo Finance.
She said the roles with greater earning potential were becoming increasingly diverse, and this reflected the wide range of skills that were in demand.
“If you think about technology or construction resources, there is huge demand for those roles. That growth or demand is extending through to roles that put things like project management and people management front and centre,” Hutton said.
“It really opens up possibilities around what you could be earning and where your skills and experience could take you. It breaks down those traditional pathways to entry to a role.”
Hutton recommended Aussies considering a career change think beyond your current job title and industry, and look for jobs relevant to your skills and experience.
