Spotify hikes subscription prices for Aussies: How much more you’ll pay
Spotify subscribers will be hit with higher fees from next month.
Music streaming giant Spotify is increasing its prices for Aussie subscribers. Again.
An email sent to Spotify Premium customers on Tuesday morning marked the second time in a year users have been hit with a price hike. The streaming platform confirmed prices would increase from May, some as much as $36 a year.
Premium Family plans will increase from $20.99 to $23.99 per month, an increase of $3 a month, while its Premium Individual plan will increase from $12.99 to $13.99 per month, an increase of $1 a month.

“We’re increasing the price of Premium Family so we can continue bringing you the best experience. You’ll continue to get the benefits that you know and love today, like ad-free music listening and downloading to listen offline,” an email sent to Premium Family subscribers explained.
Spotify’s website also notes its Premium Duo plan is now $19.99 per month, up from $17.99 per month last year, while its Premium Student plan is still currently $6.99 per month.
In July last year, Spotify announced it was increasing its prices for Premium subscribers from September. Family plans went up from $15.99 to $17.99 per month, while Individual plans were increased from $11.99 to $12.99 per month.

Along with Australia, the streaming giant also plans to increase prices in the UK and Pakistan. Insiders have reported it will raise prices in the US later this year.
Spotify Premium gives subscribers access to ad-free music, along with the ability to download music to listen offline, play songs in any order and listen with friends in real-time.
Competitor Apple Music currently offers family plans for $19.99 per month, individual plans for $12.99 per month and student plans for $6.99 per month. This also gives subscribers access to ad-free music and the ability to download 100,000 songs to their library.
According to Finder research released last year, two-thirds of Aussies have at least one subscription and are spending an average of $45 a month on streaming services - or more than $540 per year.
With prices on the rise, it found one in three Aussies had cancelled streaming services in the past six months.
