Revealed: A peek into the houses the Big Four Bank bosses call home
The paypackets of all big four bank bosses copped haircuts last year, with recently-resigned NAB CEO Andrew Thorburn taking home $2 million less than he did in 2017.
But don’t feel too sorry for them – they’re probably not too worse for wear, judging by the comfortable pads they go home to.
Here’s a look at the houses the country’s top four banking executives live in:
Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn
The relatively new boss of Australia’s biggest bank goes home to a Federation house in the leafy eastern suburb of Randwick in Sydney, where houses sell for the median price of $2.25 million.
Westpac CEO Brian Hartzer
Westpac’s boss’ modern, clean-cut glass mansion is nestled in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Vaucluse and boasts harbour views. The median house price in Vaucluse is upwards of $5 million.
According to Domain, the designer house was purchased under Hartzer’s wife Georgina’s name in Vaucluse for $12.75 million back in 2014.
ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott
ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliott goes home to Toorak, an affluent inner-Melbourne suburb where the median property price is $3.21 million.
Elliott’s Edwardian-style house was purchased in 2012 for $4.5 million, according to Domain.
Former NAB CEO Andrew Thorburn
Thorburn resigned as NAB’s chief executive last Friday along with chairman Ken Henry after it became apparent that their positions were untenable.
Thorburn goes home to a house in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Middle Park, purchased two years ago under his wife Kathryn’s name for $7 million.
The average Toorak home goes for $2.45 million, according to realestate.com.au.
