Onlookers shocked as Sydney home sells for $4.2 million
A young couple from the affluent eastern suburbs were the lucky auction winners.
A young couple stunned onlookers at the weekend auction of a gorgeous four-bedroom home in the Sydney suburb of Erskineville, after it smashed the suburb property record.
The home was sold for $4.2 million - $400,000 over reserve - at auction. The previous suburb record was $3.7 million.
The home was last purchased in March 2021 for just over $2 million. After extensive renovations, the original owners pocketed a cool $2.13 million from the sale.
The selling agent from Ray White Surry Hills, Shaun Stoker, told the Australian Financial Review that the buyers were a young couple from the eastern suburbs.
“The market is super strong due to tight stock levels, particularly with properties where the work has already been done to a high quality like this,” Stoker said.
What does the home look like?
The beautifully renovated home sits in the inner-city suburb of Erskineville and has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two car spaces.
“A recent renovation has transformed this classic oversized semi into a brand-new luxury home, full of elegance and flooded with natural light from the northern aspect,” the listing says.
“The layout unfolds over two levels to create a sense of spaciousness with lavish open-plan living areas, four generous bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a study and a sunny rear courtyard.”
The listing says the property will make a great family home or investment for the new buyers.
On the lower level, the home has two bedrooms plus the open-plan living and dining area. Upstairs is a study nook and the two remaining bedrooms.
The master bedroom comes with an ensuite bathroom and built-in wardrobes.
As a family home or investment, this impressive residence boasts a supremely convenient location on a quiet, sought-after street only moments from excellent schools as well as Erskineville village and train station.
