Kayla Itsines is one of the biggest names in fitness, with her workout app Sweat cementing her as a global sensation and helping her build an empire worth tens of millions of dollars.

The Aussie fitness influencer is currently locked in a legal battle with fitness coach Cass Olholm. Itsines’s former company, The Bikini Body Training Company, is seeking to stop the former employee from launching a rival app.

With millions of dollars potentially hanging on the line, you might be wondering how much the Adelaide personal trainer is worth. Here’s what we know.

How Aussie built fitness empire

Itsines and her now ex-partner, Tobi Pearce, founded the Bikini Body Training Company in 2013 and launched their popular 28-minute Bikini Body Guide (BBG) workout programs in 2014. The pair created the Sweat app in 2015 and quickly amassed a cult following.

By October 2016, Itsines and Pearce made their debut on the Financial Review’s Young Rich List with a combined wealth of $46 million. At 24 and 25, respectively, they were the youngest on the list at the time.

Since then, Itsines’s empire has kept growing and the 32-year-old has a reported net worth of $165 million.

She currently has 28 million followers on Facebook and 16.1 million followers on Instagram.

$400 million pay day

In 2021, the pair sold Sweat for a reported $400 million to US health and fitness tech company iFIT.

“Sweat has had an incredible journey, from our humble beginnings training women one-on-one in my Adelaide backyard to launching the Sweat App in 2015 to now joining the iFIT family,” Itsines said at the time.

The app has been downloaded more than 30 million times. In 2020, Sweat was generating $99.5 million in annual revenue.

Fitness mogul's fortune 'made her life no better'

Despite being one of the richest people in Australia, Itsines said she still appreciated using her money on the little things in life.

“I love being able to do little things and not have to think about it. Like, my grandparents have this coffee table that they have cable-tied the legs on to because it’s falling apart. They would never buy a new one. I bought them a new one from Amart for $220. It’s little things like that,” Itsines told The Australian Financial Review.

She also admitted money wasn’t worth as much when you were with the wrong person.

“It made my life no better. When you have the right person, it lets you create memories. It gives you more.”

Itsines split from Pearce in August 2020. The pair share a daughter. Itsines is now in a relationship with Jae Woodroffe, with whom she has a baby boy.
