Correct us if we’re wrong, but potatoes are one of the best things in the world.

And if you shop at Coles, they just got a whole lot better, with the supermarket giant slashing the prices of Birds Eye chips to 50 cents for a 1 kilogram bag.

The snack usually sells for $4.30.

One excited shopper shared the discovery on Facebook, declaring shock at the markdown.

“50 CENTS! No, not the rapper, this is the actual PRICE of these chips!!” they said on Facebook group, I Bought It At.

“Coles are officially clearing ALL of their Birds Eye chips ready for a new range to be launched this week.”

Another Facebook user described the moment her husband returned home with six packets of the chips after heading out to buy milk.

“He knows how to spot a bargain!” she said.

“I’m gonna [sic] go back later tonight to see if there is any more! Nothing wrong with stoking [sic] up!”

A Coles spokesperson explained the sale is happening on a store-by-store basis, as the supermarkets clear space for a new launch.

“Coles is clearing space for an exciting new range of products that are set to land in stores across Australia over the next couple of weeks… watch this space,” the spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.
