Days left to claim $180 cost-of-living rebate
Energy bills have hit Aussies where it hurts, so make sure you take advantage of the Family Energy Rebate if you're eligible.
Time is running out to claim an energy rebate that could cut your bill by $180. Low-income earners in New South Wales were offered the handout to help with rising costs.
We aren't talking about the $300 energy bill rebate coming for all Australian households announced in the federal budget. This is the Family Energy Rebate and applications close at 11pm on Sunday, June 16.
State Energy Minister Penny Sharpe said the rebate offers a "helping hand to low-income families" with dependant children.
“The Family Energy Rebate is real money that can benefit people struggling with the cost of living, I encourage all families to check their eligibility for rebates online, and apply before the June 16 deadline,” Sharpe said.

Am I eligible for the energy rebate?
The Family Energy Rebate was introduced to help families who had received the Family Tax Benefit payment from Services Australia.
About 400,000 families meet the criteria of Family Tax Benefit A or B, but you also have to meet the following:
Have an electricity account for your home in NSW
Be the account holder (the account and bill must be in your name)
Received the Family Tax Benefit in the previous financial year and you have:
lodged your tax return for the last financial year with the Australian Tax Office (ATO), and
finalised your entitlement to the Family Tax Benefit payments with Centrelink
You'll need to have a confirmation letter from Services Australia stating that your Family Tax Benefit has been finalised for the last financial year, as well as your Services Australia Customer Reference Number and your energy account details when you lodge your application.
You can only receive one each financial year.
The NSW government said it can take between four to six weeks for applications to be processed.
