Newly released analysis by LinkedIn has revealed the top 10 most in-demand skills for 2019, and there’s a clear trend.
Companies are working hardest to fill cloud computing skills shortfalls, and are also on the hunt for those skilled in artificial intelligence and user experience design. These are all skills with a strong tech slant.
Wait – what’s cloud computing
Cloud computing is the process of delivering computing services over the Internet to offer faster innovation and remove the need for on-site data centres.
But bosses are also looking for workers with creativity and analytical skills.
Let’s break it down
LinkedIn sorted its findings into hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills are specific abilities that can be taught and measured, like the ability to read and write or use software programs.
They’re generally easier to measure than soft skills.
Soft skills are essentially people skills. That means things like etiquette, leadership and teamwork are soft skills.
According to LinkedIn, 57 per cent of bosses actually value soft skills over hard skills.
