Aldi has a discounted meal for customers to be thankful for.

The grocery chain announced on Oct. 16 that it will be rolling out the lowest-priced Thanksgiving meal basket in five years.

Aldi is grouping a Turkey Day $47 shopping list chock full of “pre-inflation” priced goodies. The roundup includes a 16-lb. Butterball turkey with spices, gravy, rolls, cornbread, macaroni and cheese and stuffing. Plus, ingredients for cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie are included in the basket.

The “inflation-busting” meal deal, as it's billed in a press release, can feed 10 people, meaning that the final cost comes in at less than $4.70 per person. The shopping list comes without the “sales, coupons, minimum purchase requirements, loyalty cards and other hoops required to save at traditional grocers.”

The Thanksgiving bundle will be available from Oct. 16 through Nov. 27 (the Wednesday before the actual holiday).

Aldi is able to keep prices down by maintaining smaller stores, which use a quarter cart system, and by keeping foods in the original boxes and packaging that they were delivered in. They have had several initiatives over the years to combat food price inflation.

In May, when inflation was peaking, the retailer lowered the prices on more than 250 products in an effort to help customers save $100 million through Labor Day.

Aldi's goal was almost double the $60 million that the national grocer reportedly saved customers in summer 2023 with similar price cuts.

Discounts ranged from 10 cents to more than $1.50, and products included pantry staples (like pinto beans and avocado oil) plus seafood and meat (like chicken and sirloin steak).
