$575 million in cash waiting to be claimed - how to check if some is yours
Aussies just need to do one simple online check to see if they can score the cash.
Millions of dollars in unpaid money is waiting to be claimed by Aussies, with households being urged to check if they can get a Christmas cash boost.
Revenue NSW is currently holding $575 million in unclaimed money for residents in the state, including unclaimed refunds, share dividends, uncashed cheques and trust account funds.
Unclaimed money is cash that is owed to people who can’t be located. That could be because you’ve changed your name or address, lost paperwork or it has simply been forgotten about. Revenue NSW is urging Aussies to do a simple online check to see if they are owed a share of the cash.

“There is unprecedented pressure on NSW households juggling rate rises, increasing rents and expensive groceries,” a Revenue NSW spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.
“Claiming part of the $575 million of unclaimed money could be a welcome boost for the family budget over the holidays. Revenue NSW wants to get this money back into the hands of its owners.”
Aussies could be owed a share of hundreds or even thousands of dollars in unclaimed cash, with $667,000 the most amount of money owed to an individual.
