RACE IS ON: $20 Uber Eats vouchers for first LGA to hit 80%
NSW residents, book your vaccine appointments if you haven’t already; Uber Eats will knock $20 off the bill of Aussies who live in the very first LGA hotspot that reaches the 80 per cent double vaccination target.
The food delivery platform has launched a campaign to ‘get vaxxed for snacks’, noting that dessert orders among Sydney residents had nearly doubled between May and August.
“It’s been a tough few months of lockdown for New South Wales, especially for those of you in Sydney’s LGAs of concern,” Uber Eats said in an email blast on Tuesday.
“Eaters who live in the first LGA of concern to reach the 80 per cent double vaxxed target will be able to get up to $20 off an order (excluding fees) from their favourite dessert store via Uber Eats.”

The offer is only offered to people in NSW LGA hotspots, which are Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Strathfield, and “some suburbs” in Penrith.
As a state, 85.7 per cent of residents have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 60.4 per cent who have had both doses.
Uber Eats’ email blast comes a day after the NSW Government unveiled updated roadmap plans.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian also confirmed that it expects the first stage of reopening to be earlier than expected, on 11 October instead of 18 October.

In second place is neighbouring Parramatta, at 65.3 per cent, and then Campbelltown very closely behind at 64.6 per cent.
Unlikely to win the race is Bayside (57.2 per cent) or Cumberland (57.8 per cent).

Canterbury-Bankstown 60.3%
Cumberland 57.8%

How does this offer work?
Uber Eats said it was “keeping a close eye” on the vaccination tallies.
“Once the first LGA of concern reaches that 80 per cent double vaxxed sweet spot, we’ll activate the promo code on the next Friday after the vaccination target is reached. The offer will also run for the entire weekend that follows,” Uber explained.
Step by step, here’s how it will work:
Open the Uber Eats app and find a participating store under ‘Desserts’
Pick your dessert and add it to your basket
Enter the promo code ‘VAXXED4SNACKS’ (but note that this will only work for people in the relevant LGA)
Pay, and wait for your dessert to arrive.
NSW residents with sweet tooths should note that delivery fees and service fees aren’t included in the $20 offer.
